Robert Webb Takes The Let’s Dance Trophy!

The hugely entertaining series ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ came to a close tonight with the final six acts battling it out to become the dancing champion.

After six phenomenal performances, including Robert Webb’s re-enactment of Flash Dance, Dick and Dom as The Blues Brothers, Jo Brand as Britney Spears, Keith Lemon and Paddy McGuinness’s Dirty Dancing, The Bill stars Lisa Maxwell and Patrick Robinson’s Riverdance, and Denise Lewis and Martin Offiah’s Shakalaka Baby from Bombay Dreams, the public voted and decided to make Robert Webb the king of the dance-floor!

His amazing rendition of Flashdance has had the nation’s tongues wagging since he first performed three weeks ago and, once again, his big black curly haired wig, sparkly leotard, and flamboyant dance moves won the viewers over.

The panel of celebrity judges, including Anton Du Beke, Denise Van Outen and Michael Mcintyre gave him a standing ovation after his performance and said ‘It completely brilliant.’ Denise added, ‘I’m in awe of you, when you dance the magic happens.’

The fantastic grand final wasn’t just filled with brilliant celebrity dance acts - a bevy of musical talent performed too. One of Comic Relief’s official Red Nose Day single ‘Islands In The Stream’ was performed by Gavin and Stacey’s Uncle Bryn and Nessa – and they were joined by the Welsh wonder that is Tom Jones!

Alisha Dixon, having just about recovered from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise over £3m for Comic Relief, performed her new single ‘Let’ Get Excited’ and the cast of the West End hit musical ‘Hairspray’ also performed, including Michael Ball – much to the audience’s delight.

Over £300,000 has been raised for Comic Relief through the audience votes on Let's Dance For Comic Relief – a big thank you to everyone who’s called up to vote! We hope you enjoyed the show as much as us!
