In order to run itself in a professional and effective way Comic Relief incurs necessary significant costs. Raising funds, making grants and organisational overheads cost real money.

Despite these costs, Comic Relief is still able to promise that for every pound the charity gets directly from the public a pound goes to helping transform the lives of people living with poverty and social injustice. If Red Nose Day raises £65 million, Comic Relief will spend at least £65 million doing just that.

It can make this promise because its operating budget is covered in cash or in kind from all types of supporters like corporate sponsors and donors, suppliers, generous individuals and government (including Gift Aid) as well as from investment income and interest.

How to pay your money in

Once you’ve raised the cash – there’s just one thing left to do. Pay it in!

If you are a School or Early Years Group click here to pay in your fundraising money.

Here’s how:

  1. Pay it in right here
  2. If you’ve created a Red Nose Day Giving page, use it to pay in the cash you’ve raised.
  3. If you've got a Fundraising Kit, pay in your money at any bank using the giro slip attached to the sponsorship form within the kit.
  4. Pop into a Post Office or building society and pay into the Red Nose Day account.
  5. Send a cheque or postal order, made payable to Red Nose Day 2009, to Ernst & Young, PO Box 51543, London SE1 2UG.
  6. Call the Red Nose Day donation line on 03457 910910* to pay in your money.

Get your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box and fill in their details on your sponsorship form before you send it in. That way, we’ll get even more bang for their bucks!

*Calls to our 0345 number will cost the same as calls to 01 and 02 prefixed numbers and will be included as part of any inclusive minutes or discount package.

We can claim gift aid from your sponsors if you send us all your completed sponsorship forms with any cheques and your giro slip to the address above. Or pay the money in at any bank and send us your receipt and completed sponsorship forms.
